About Open Miami

A civic coalition building the resilient Miami we all depend on.

Open Miami is a nonprofit community of futurists, activists, scholars, engineers, entrepreneurs, students, and volunteers working together to bring climate data and regenerative solutions to every corner of South Florida.

Our story

Open Miami began as a group of individuals who shared a passion for environmental sustainability and pushing forward regenerative and circular-economy principles. What started as informal meetups has grown into a vibrant, cross-disciplinary community working to implement regeneration across Miami.

Our mission

We democratize data, insight, and action into a universally accessible community resource that helps mitigate climate risk. By combining emerging civic technology, new financial models, rigorous data collection, and ancestral ecological knowledge, we pursue the most impactful and practical solutions for people, profit, and planet.

What guides us

Our values

Open by default

Data, research, and tools we build are published openly so any organization or resident can use them.

Community-led

Neighborhood knowledge shapes every initiative. We build with communities, not just for them.

Regenerative

We favor circular, regenerative approaches over extractive ones — for ecosystems and economies alike.

Practical impact

Every project ships something usable: a dataset, a tool, a pilot, a partnership — not just a report.

Community partners

Organizations we build alongside.
