OpenMiami
Initiatives

Practical projects, built in the open.

Every initiative pairs technical rigor with community input. Here is where our coalition is putting data and regeneration into practice right now.

Data

Climate Risk Dashboard

An open, map-based dashboard tracking flood risk, urban heat exposure, sea-level rise, and resilience investment across every Miami-Dade neighborhood — built for residents, planners, and researchers alike.

Finance

Regenerative Finance Lab

Piloting community-owned financial models — from ReFi mechanisms to local resilience bonds — that channel capital into circular economy and coastal-adaptation projects.

Education

Civic Science Fellowship

Pairing students and volunteer engineers with community organizations to collect, clean, and publish local environmental data that would otherwise stay locked away.

Technology

XR Resilience Studio

Using immersive and extended-reality tools built with partners like XR Labs to help residents visualize flood scenarios and future coastal design before they happen.

Community

Neighborhood Data Corps

Training volunteers in every Miami-Dade district to gather ground-truth environmental data — heat, air quality, flooding — that feeds directly into the Climate Risk Dashboard.

Policy

Open Policy Briefings

Translating open data into plain-language briefings for local officials and community boards, so resilience decisions are made with the best available evidence.
